CO SB25-003 CPW SSF 12-Hour Course

Colorado Senate Bill 25-003 requires buyers to obtain an eligibility card from a local sheriff and complete a CPW certified safety training course before purchasing or transferring specified semi-automatic firearms, effective August 1, 2026.

The law covers specified semi-automatic rifles, shotguns, and gas-operated pistols that accept detachable magazines.

Currently owned firearms, manual-action long guns, fixed-magazine firearms, and most recoil-operated handguns are not affected.

Students must obtain their eligibility card before attending the course.
